Built for Assessments. Powered by Experts.

We help professionals turn physiological data into clarity, not chaos. This isn’t about fitness tracking. It’s about insight.

At Assess.Works, our goal is simple: make physiological assessment easy, accurate, and scalable for professionals. In a world flooded with fitness data, there’s a gap between collecting signals—and truly understanding them. We built this platform not to replace training apps or wearables, but to fill a deeper need: to help experts interpret complex data quickly and confidently.

Most tools today fall into three groups:

  • Some rely on push-button lab outputs, ignoring deeper insights.

  • Others require exporting files and building custom spreadsheets—a slow, manual process.

  • And many oversimplify, using outdated formulas to estimate thresholds or zones from just one signal.

Assess.Works is is built for the second group—those who know what to look for, but need a better way to get there. We automate the busywork so professionals can focus on what matters: uncovering limitations, identifying strengths, and guiding smarter decisions.

We’re not trying to be another Strava, Garmin, TrainingPeaks, or interval.icu. Those platforms are excellent for tracking, monitoring, analyzing, and planning—both daily and over the long term. Our focus is different: one assessment at a time. Structured tests, diagnostics, and performance deep dives—whether in the lab or in the field.

We're also open to collaboration. We’re already working with elite coaches and labs around the world, and if you're building tools for training, data sync, or recovery, there may be a strong mutual opportunity. We don’t want to compete—we want to enable. If you serve athletes, we serve the experts who assess them.

Our Team

Frank Kolar

Frank Kolar brings over 30 years of experience building and scaling enterprise-grade technology platforms. As technical lead at Assess.Works, he bridges advanced physiological science with real-world application—translating complex research into reliable, production-ready systems. With a strong technical foundation and growing specialization in applied physiology, Frank focuses on integrating respiratory, metabolic, and performance data into scalable technological frameworks.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated closely with leading field experts and industry specialists, and in recent years has further deepened his expertise through direct collaboration with Evan Peikon and Daniel Crumback. His work centers on validating protocols, identifying physiological limiters, defining intensity domains, and translating multi-modal data into practical athlete diagnostics.

At Assess.Works, Frank leads product architecture and technological development—transforming scientific models into tools used by elite coaches and athletes. By combining systems engineering, performance science, and generative AI, he ensures that complex physiological data becomes actionable, measurable, and meaningful in real-world training environments.

Daniel Crumback

Daniel Crumback is an internationally recognized expert in physiological testing, metabolic analysis, and performance optimization, with over 30 years of experience across medical, military, and elite athletic populations. A Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist, and High Performance Specialist, Daniel brings a uniquely integrated perspective to assessment and training.

His expertise spans three decades of applied work in lactate testing, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), spirometry, and respiratory assessment and training. This depth of experience allows him to integrate cardiovascular, respiratory, and metabolic data into practical performance strategies.

After a distinguished 29-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces and senior leadership roles in China and Europe—including serving at the 2018 Winter Olympics and as Head of Science and Education at PNOĒ—Daniel now leads the scientific direction at Assess.Works, designing and validating physiological models that transform complex testing data into meaningful performance insights..

Evan Peikon

Evan Peikon is a computational biologist and bioengineer whose work spans precision medicine, wearable biosensing, and human performance modeling. With a background in molecular medicine, multi-omics, and integrative physiology, Evan specializes in developing computational frameworks that translate complex biological signals into meaningful, actionable insights. As co-founder and lead scientist at NNOXX, he pioneered novel digital and molecular biosensors and advanced multi-modal physiological analysis systems.

Evan’s research and published work focus on muscle oxygenation (NIRS), bioenergetics, critical power modeling, and the validation of wearable sensing technologies. He has advised professional sports teams, Olympic programs, military special operations groups, and early-stage technology companies on physiological modeling and performance optimization.

At Assess.Works, Evan leads algorithm development and scientific modeling—transforming raw data from wearables and laboratory testing into robust analytical frameworks that empower athletes and coaches to make precise, data-driven training decisions.
